Napa, California: At Robust, we pride ourselves on being the Bay Area’s top choice in paint protection film and ceramic coating installation, and our current customer, local to us here in Napa Valley, wanted to get the front of his brand-new Tesla Model Y fully protected against rock chips, scratches, swirls, and dings. Additionally, because the Tesla Model Y tends to kick up some serious dirt and debris on the side rocker panels, the customer had also requested to get custom bulk cut film installed on those areas to ensure that the vehicle won’t take any damage while he was going to take trips all over California!
We started the process by giving the vehicle a nice rinseless wash and alcohol wipedown to remove any factory residue and light dust. Since the car was barely driven at all, we decided to keep prep work to a minimum since touching the car beyond necessary can lead to scratches and swirls on the new car’s paint job.
We first installed the full hood with a half-inch tuck under the hood and then wrapped the front bumper with zero seam and single-piece install of the paint protection film. We also tucked where we could without removing any panels. It’s pragmatic to not disassemble a new car since panel removal can compromise on adhesives and fittings holding the panels onto the car. We then installed paint protection film on headlights and full fenders which are necessary to cover to protect the full front of the vehicle from any mechanical damage.
Finally, we installed paint protection film (PPF) on the side rocker panels ensuring full tuck around the doors and giving it a straight hand-cut. We then installed a 9-year graphene coating on the Tesla Model Y and brought in the customer to inspect our work. Our customer, a retired couple, couldn’t believe that there was a film on their new car! They were extremely happy with the gloss, slickness, and overall results they obtained from our workmanship on their new Tesla Model Y.
