St. Helena, California: It’s no surprise that most people are keeping their cars longer since new vehicle prices are continuing to rise. Our current customer from Angwin had asked us to work on his Lexus at the St. Helena Hospital. His primary concerns were the removal of oxidation from the horizontal panels of the Lexus, rejuvenating the rest of the painted surfaces, and protecting the vehicle for years to come. We offered him a two-step paint correction along with a 3-year graphene coating to ensure long-term protection for his Lexus.
After arriving at the Lexus parked at the St. Helena Hospital, the first thing we noticed was that the oxidation level was very intense in the trouble areas. We started the process of paint correction and coating the Lexus by first washing the vehicle using our signature rinseless wash and drying it with ultra-plush microfiber towels. After the wash, we performed a clay bar treatment to get rid of any above-surface contaminants that could potentially cause swirling on the paint due to the rotational movement of the buffer in the proceeding paint correction step.
After conducting a test spot to find the right combination of compound and polish, we then used a high-speed buffer alongside an Italian foam wool pad and a heavy-cut compound to cut through the oxidation, swirls, and scratches, leaving a moderate gloss finish. We performed multiple passes on the more troublesome areas(ie. Hood, roof, trunk) and a single pass on the painted areas of the Lexus where the oxidation damage wasn’t as prominent.
Since compounding the painted surfaces of the vehicle leaves light swirl marks of its own, we decided to do a second step of polishing the Lexus with a light cut pad and a finishing polish to turn the painted surfaces into a super-glossy and glass-like finish.
We then performed a detox treatment on the entire vehicle which removed all polishing residue and primed the surface for proper coating bond. Finally, we sectionally installed a 3-year graphene coating to leave a slick and smooth surface for years to come! Now, because of the graphene coating installed by us at Robust Paint Protection & Car Detailing, this customer’s Lexus in St. Helena will be protected from tree sap, road tar, fine scratches and swirls, bird bombs, and all forms of chemical damage for years to come. The customer was shocked to see the transformation of his oxidized Lexus into a glossy gem.
