Daly City, California: At Robust Paint Protection & Auto Detailing, since we are a mobile business, we’ve installed paint protection films (PPF) and ceramic coatings in San Francisco and our current customer from Daly City wanted to give his new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing the ultimate protection to make maintenance a breeze while ensuring that the black paint looked pristine. Our customer had booked us a month in advance to come to his home in Daly City, San Francisco Bay Area, California, using our streamlined online booking system to get the coating job done.
However, when we inspected the vehicle in the garage, we noticed that the black paint job of the Cadillac Blackwing was heavily swirled and deeply scratched. We recommend our customer go for a two-step paint correction alongside the 10-year graphene coating. Conducting a two-step paint correction would ensure that the paint job on the Cadillac would look pristine before we lock the vehicle’s surfaces with a hard coating.
We started the car coating installation process by pulling the black Cadillac into the driveway and giving it a nice ceramic foam cannon wash which did a thorough job of not only cleaning all painted, glass, and wheel surfaces but also removing dirt inside the wheel wells and crevices of the car which would have interfered with the coating bond.
After the car wash, we brought the Cadillac back into the garage where we inspected the surfaces to gauge whether we would perform a clay bar treatment or not while simultaneously using blowers to remove water from crevices that would interfere with the polishing, compounding, and coating process. Noting that the Cadillac’s paint didn’t need a clay bar treatment, we proceeded with a heavy-cut compounding process to remove deeper scratches and swirls.
The heavy-cut compounding process using a high-speed buffer, and Italian wool pad, and heavy-cut compounding effectively got rid of 90-95% of deep scratches and swirls on the vehicle’s paint. Some very deep scratches and swirls did stay after the compounding process. Since compounding is such an aggressive process and leaves swirl marks of its own, we followed up the compounding by polishing the car as the second step in paint correction to get rid of compounding swirls and further diminishing light scratches and swirls that remained on the vehicle’s painted surfaces.
At the end of the two-step paint correction, the black color of the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing shined out and made the vehicle look like a glassy black pearl which completely blew away the customer when it comes to aesthetics and smoothness of the finish.
We then proceeded to use a detox treatment to get rid of all compounding and polishing residue while priming the surface for proper graphene coating bonding. Finally, we installed our signature 10-year graphene coating shell on all painted surfaces, polycarbonates(lights), the front windshield, the top glass, and the face of the wheels. Now the car looked like a shiny black gem while being protected for many years to come!
